What is Skip-Counting?
Skip-counting is like hopping along a number line! Instead of counting by 1, we jump in bigger steps. Imagine a little bunny 🐰 hopping only on the even numbers! That’s skip-counting by 2!
Skip-Counting by 2: The Squirrel’s Acorns
Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel named Squeaky. Squeaky loves acorns! Every day, Squeaky finds 2 acorns.
Let’s count Squeaky’s acorns by 2s:
- Day 1: 2 acorns
- Day 2: 4 acorns
- Day 3: 6 acorns
- Day 4: 8 acorns
- Day 5: 10 acorns
See? We skipped over the odd numbers! 2, 4, 6, 8, 10! Squeaky is one happy squirrel!
Skip-Counting by 5: The Ladybug’s Spots
A little ladybug named Dot has lots of spots! Let’s count how many spots Dot and her friends have. Each ladybug has 5 spots.
- 1 Ladybug: 5 spots
- 2 Ladybugs: 10 spots
- 3 Ladybugs: 15 spots
- 4 Ladybugs: 20 spots
- 5 Ladybugs: 25 spots

Skip-Counting by 10: The Fish in the Tank
There’s a big fish tank with lots of colorful fish 🐠! Every week, 10 new fish join the tank.

- Week 4: 40 fish
- Week 5: 50 fish
