Even numbers are numbers that can be divided into two equal groups. Imagine you have some cookies. If you can share them perfectly with your friend so you both have the same amount, then it’s an even number!

Even numbers always end in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.

  • 4 (2 + 2)
  • 6 (3 + 3)
  • 8 (4 + 4)
  • 10 (5 + 5)

They can all be split in half!

Odd numbers are numbers that cannot be divided into two equal groups. If you try to share them, one person will have one more! There will always be someone left out!

Odd numbers always end in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9.
