Identify numbers as even or odd
key notes :
What are Even Numbers?
Even numbers are numbers that can be divided into two equal groups. That means there’s no leftover!
Imagine you have cookies. If you can share them equally with a friend, it’s an even number of cookies.
Even numbers always end in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.
Examples of Even Numbers:
- 2 (1 + 1)
- 4 (2 + 2)
- 6 (3 + 3)
- 8 (4 + 4)
- 10 (5 + 5)

What are Odd Numbers?
Odd numbers are numbers that cannot be divided into two equal groups. There’s always one leftover!
Imagine you have toy cars. If you try to share them equally with a friend and you have one left, it’s an odd number of cars.
Odd numbers always end in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9.
Examples of Odd Numbers:
- 1 (Just one!)
- 3 (1 + 1 + 1)
- 5 (2 + 2 + 1)
- 7 (3 + 3 + 1)
- 9 (4 + 4 + 1)

How to Tell if a Number is Even or Odd?
Just look at the last number! If it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8, it’s even. If it ends in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9, it’s odd.
For example:
- 12 is even because it ends in 2.
- 25 is odd because it ends in 5.
- 100 is even because it ends in 0.
