What is a Growing Pattern?
  • A growing pattern increases or changes each time.
  • Something is added or increased in each step.
How Growing Patterns Work:
  • Numbers, shapes, or objects get bigger or more each time.
  • Example:
  • 2, 4, 6, 8, … (grows by +2 each time)
  • 🔵, 🔵🔵, 🔵🔵🔵, 🔵🔵🔵🔵 … (1 more circle is added each time)
Rules in Growing Patterns:
  • Look at how the pattern is changing.
  • Find the rule:
  • Adding numbers → +2, +3, +5 …
  • Adding shapes → 1 more star, 2 more blocks …
Types of Growing Patterns:
  • Number Patterns → 5, 10, 15, 20 … (add 5 each time)
  • Shape Patterns → ▲, ▲▲, ▲▲▲ … (add 1 triangle each time)
  • Object Patterns → 🍎, 🍎🍎, 🍎🍎🍎 … (grow by 1 apple each step)
