When we add, we combine two groups to find the total.

Look for important words like:

  • altogether ๐Ÿค
  • in all ๐Ÿ“ฆ
  • sum โž•

These help you understand that it is an addition problem.

Find the two one-digit numbers in the story.
Example: “Ravi has 4 pencils โœ๏ธ and his friend gives him 3 more โœ๏ธ.”
Numbers: 4 and 3

Turn the story into a math sentence.
Example: 4 + 3 = 7 โœ”๏ธ
