key notes :
| What are Homophones? |
Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings and sometimes different spellings! It’s like they’re twins with different jobs.
Let’s look at some examples:
| see โ sea | two โ too โ to |
| See – To look with your eyes๐๏ธ Example: I see a bird. Sea – A large body of water Example: The sea is blue.๐ | Two – The number 2 Example: I have two apples. Too – Also or very Example: I want to go too!๐โโ๏ธ To – Towards Example: I am going to school.โก๏ธ |
| Here – Hear | One –Won |
| Here – In this place Example: Come here, please. ![]() Hear – To listen with your ears Example: I can hear a song. ![]() | One – The number 1 Example: I have one toy. ![]() Won – To win Example: I won the race! ![]() |

| Flower = plant bloom๐ธ Flour = powder used for making bread๐ | Bear = an animal![]() Bare = without covering ![]() |
| Why are Homophones Important? |
Knowing homophones helps us understand what we read and write! If we use the wrong homophone, our sentences might not make sense. For example, if you wrote “I want to sea the bird,” it would sound funny because you can’t look at something with the sea!
| ๐ผ Example Sentences: |
- I can see๐๏ธ a ship on the sea.๐
- The sun๐ is bright. My son ๐ฆlikes to play.
- She bought two apples to eat, and I got one too.
- The bear has thick fur. My feet are bare.
- A red flower ๐ธgrows. We make bread ๐with flour.
