Here – In this place Example: Come here, please. Hear – To listen with your ears Example: I can hear a song. | One – The number 1 Example: I have one toy. Won – To win Example: I won the race! |
Homophone Exercises |
Let’s practice! Choose the correct homophone to complete each sentence:
- I want to (to/too) go to the park (to/too).
- Can you (see/sea) the boat on the (see/sea)?
- I (hear/here) a bird singing (hear/here).
- I (one/won) a prize! I have (one/won) new friend.
- I have (two/to/too) many books! I need (two/to/too) read them all. Let’s go (two/to/too) the library.
Why are Homophones Important? |
Knowing homophones helps us understand what we read and write! If we use the wrong homophone, our sentences might not make sense. For example, if you wrote “I want to sea the bird,” it would sound funny because you can’t look at something with the sea!
