  • Singular Nouns: Refer to one person, place, or thing (e.g., cat, dog, house).
  • Plural Nouns: Refer to more than one person, place, or thing. Generally, add -s or -es to the end of the singular noun.
    • For most nouns: catcats
    • For nouns ending in -s, -x, -z, -sh, or -ch: boxboxes

  • Shows ownership or belonging by one person or thing.
  • Formed by adding -‘s to the singular noun.
    • Example: The dog’s bone (The bone belongs to one dog).

  • Shows ownership or belonging by more than one person or thing.
  • Formed by adding -s’ to plural nouns that already end in -s.
    • Example: The dogs’ park (The park belongs to more than one dog).
  • For plural nouns not ending in -s, add -‘s.
    • Example: The children’s toys (The toys belong to the children).
