Singular Nouns and Plurals
- Singular Nouns: Refer to one person, place, or thing (e.g., cat, dog, house).
- Plural Nouns: Refer to more than one person, place, or thing. Generally, add -s or -es to the end of the singular noun.
- For most nouns: cat → cats
- For nouns ending in -s, -x, -z, -sh, or -ch: box → boxes
Singular Possessives
- Shows ownership or belonging by one person or thing.
- Formed by adding -‘s to the singular noun.
- Example: The dog’s bone (The bone belongs to one dog).
Plural Possessives
- Shows ownership or belonging by more than one person or thing.
- Formed by adding -s’ to plural nouns that already end in -s.
- Example: The dogs’ park (The park belongs to more than one dog).
- For plural nouns not ending in -s, add -‘s.
- Example: The children’s toys (The toys belong to the children).
