👉 A verb is an action word 🏃‍♂️, like run, play, jump, eat.

👉 Past tense means an action that already happened yesterday or before ⌛.
Example:

  • Today: I play 🎮
  • Yesterday: I played 🎮
  • Add -ed to most verbs.
    • walk 🚶 → walked 🚶‍♂️💨
    • jump 🤾 → jumped 🤾💨
  • If the verb ends in -e, just ➕ -d.
    • dance 💃 → danced 💃✨
    • bake 🍰 → baked 🍰🔥
  • If the verb ends in a consonant + y, change y → i and ➕ -ed.
    • cry 😢 → cried 😭
    • carry 👜 → carried 🎒
  • She played ⚽ yesterday.
  • He painted 🎨 a picture.
  • They jumped 🤾 in the park.
  • We watched 📺 a movie.
  • The cat climbed 🐱🌳 the tree.

✔️ Regular past tense verbs usually end with -ed.
