Upper Limbs

  • The upper limbs are the arms of the body.
  • They help us do many things like picking up objects, writing, and hugging.
  • Shoulder: Where the arm connects to the body.
  • Arm: The part from the shoulder to the elbow.
  • Elbow: The joint that lets the arm bend.
  • Forearm: The part from the elbow to the wrist.
  • Wrist: The joint that connects the forearm to the hand.
  • Hand: The part at the end of the arm with fingers.
  • Grabbing and Holding: We use our hands to hold and carry things.
  • Writing and Drawing: We use our arms and hands to write and create art.
  • Touching and Feeling: Our fingers help us feel and explore different textures.
  • Gesturing and Communicating: We use our arms and hands to show how we feel or what we mean.
  • Fingers: There are four fingers on each hand that help us grip and touch things.
  • Thumb: The thumb is special because it can move in different ways to help us grip things better.
  • We have 30 bones in each upper limb!
  • Our hands have lots of tiny muscles that help us move our fingers and thumbs.
