Air Moves Things

  • Air is a mixture of gases that surrounds us. We can’t see it, but we can feel it.
  • Air has the ability to move things. When air blows, it can make things like leaves, kites, and even balloons move.
  • Wind is moving air. It can blow gently or strongly. The stronger the wind, the more it can move things.
  • When the wind blows, it pushes against objects, making them move. For example, when wind blows on a kite, it makes the kite fly in the sky.

Air moves things like:

  • A flag flapping in the wind.
  • A paper bag blowing across the ground.
  • A pinwheel spinning.
  • Air has force, meaning it can push things, even though it is invisible.
  • Air moves objects in nature too, such as blowing leaves off trees or carrying seeds to new places to grow.
  • Weather like wind, storms, or breezes happens because of moving air. Strong winds can move big things, like trees or boats on water.
