Smelling

  • Smelling is one of our five senses. It helps us detect different odors or scents around us.
  • We use our nose to smell. Inside the nose, there are special cells that can detect smells.
  • Pleasant Smells: Flowers, fresh cookies, or a new book.
  • Unpleasant Smells: Garbage, dirty socks, or spoiled food.
  • Smelling helps us enjoy our food by detecting flavors.
  • It helps us stay safe by noticing things that might be dangerous (like smoke from a fire).
  • Smells can make us feel happy or sad. For example, the smell of a favorite food can make us feel excited.
  • Not all smells are safe. If something smells bad or strange, it’s important to tell an adult.
