Mosque

  • A mosque is a place where Muslims gather to pray and worship God.
  • It is also known as a “Masjid” in Arabic.
  • Dome: Many mosques have a large dome on top, which makes them easy to recognize.
  • Minaret: This is a tall tower from which the call to prayer, or “Adhan,” is made.
  • Prayer Hall: The main area inside where people pray. It is usually open and has no seats, so people can sit or kneel to pray.
  • Mihrab: A small niche in the wall that shows the direction of Mecca, where Muslims face when they pray.
  • People come to pray, especially during the five daily prayers.
  • It is also a place for learning, gatherings, and community events.
  • People take off their shoes before entering.
  • There is a focus on cleanliness, and people often perform “Wudu” (washing) before prayer.
  • Mosques can look different depending on where they are, but they serve the same purpose everywhere.
  • Some are small, while others are large and can hold thousands of people.
