Sloping Roofs

A sloping roof is a roof that is tilted or angled, often shaped like a triangle, instead of being flat.

  • Rainwater Drainage: Sloping roofs help rainwater to flow off easily, preventing water from collecting on the roof.
  • Snowfall: In places where it snows, sloping roofs allow snow to slide off, preventing heavy snow buildup.

Sloping roofs can be made of tiles, metal sheets, or wood. These materials are chosen based on the climate and cost.

  • Single Slope: A roof that slopes in one direction.
  • Double Slope (Gable Roof): A roof with two sloping sides meeting at a ridge.
  • Found in houses in hilly areas, regions with heavy rainfall, or snowy climates.
  • Chalets in snowy mountains.
  • Thatched huts in villages.
  • Keeps homes dry during rains.
  • Provides good ventilation and insulation in hot areas.

The “A-frame” house is a popular design with a sloping roof that looks like the letter “A.”
