Subtraction means taking away<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: 15 \u2212 7 means taking 7 away from 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus on numbers up to 18<\/strong> \ud83d\udd22<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest number we use<\/strong> here is 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So problems can be: 10 \u2212 3, 12 \u2212 8, 18 \u2212 5, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the bigger number, count backwards<\/strong> the smaller number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Draw a line from 0 to 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start at the bigger number and jump back<\/strong> the smaller number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes it\u2019s easier to split the bigger number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After subtracting, add the answer to the smaller number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it equals the bigger number, the answer is correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: 15 \u2212 7 = 8 \u2192 8 + 7 = 15 \u2705<\/p>\n\n\n\n
